Beech Hill Village Community Plan

A project that will help to set the direction in which our Village evolves over the coming years.

We need your support.

What is a Village Plan ?

Villages in West Berkshire are beginning to receive funds for local projects that support their community.

Not only West Berkshire Council, but also charities (including The National Lottery) are providing support to villages like ours for many diverse projects & activities. They can help to provide community facilities, finance environmental improvements, offer support for sports and social clubs, etc..

We believe that Beech Hill should benefit from some of this help, but we do need to know what the village community wants.  

To receive this extra funding, we have to publish a Village Plan. This ‘Plan’ provides a prioritised list of actions that would improve village life if funding were to be granted. Each action has to have a clear requirement, show the benefits to the community and where possible an estimated cost.

For the Plan to be effective the actions have to have the backing of the majority of the villagers.
The more people that are involved, from children to the oldest inhabitants, the more influence the Plan will have with the various providers of funds and resources.

Every villager’s vote on our action list will count.

This introductory leaflet is the first step to finding out who is interested in helping to build the Beech Hill Plan.

What happens next ?

We are right at the beginning of the process to develop our Beech Hill Village Plan.

We will be holding an opening meeting in the Memorial Hall after the summer holidays, to provide more information about the aims of the Plan, and kick-off some of the activities. 

We need people to work in teams to gather the village wish list, develop the requirements, and propose the actions to go forward into the Plan.

Other villages have concentrated on getting as many people as possible involved in developing their plan. Social activities, for which funds are sometimes available, help to make the work fun and rewarding.

Many villages have found that the involvement of the majority of the people in the village has greatly strengthened  the sense of community spirit.
